Morinville RCMP investigate human remains
Human remains were found in a field near Morinville, Alta. Wednesday morning by a surveyor working in the area, which includes Sturgeon County.
Police were called to the scene about 10 a.m. Officers confirmed that the discovery is, in fact, human remains.
A number of police forces are investigating, including the Morinville RCMP, Edmonton Major Crimes Unit, Project KARE investigators, RCMP Police Dog Service, Forensic Identification Services and Search and Rescue.
Police says they don’t know how long the remains have been there, nor can they confirm the sex or gender of the deceased at this time.
A ground search of the area is being conducted by the RCMP’s Special Tactical Operations Team (STO).
Morinville is a community of 8,539 people located 35 kilometres north of Edmonton.
