Police are asking for the public’s help to identify offenders
Three people are in hospital after two separate shooting incidents in the N.E. Calgary community of Whitehorn, according to the Calgary Police Service.
The first shooting occured at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Whitehorn Road N.E. A group of males were walking when they were approcahed by two other males. After a brief verbal exchange, one of the males in the group of two pulled out a handgun and fired several shots.
One of the males in the other group was struck by gunfire and received minor injuries. The two offenders fled on foot and were not apprehended, say police.
The shooter is described as an East Indian male approximately 6’3″, 200 lbs, 20-25 years old with a beard. He has a tattoo on his upper chest described as ‘lettering’ and was wearing a grey v-neck sweater.
The second male is East Indian, 5’10″, approximately 180 lbs, 20-25 years with short spikey hair.
The second shooting occured just before 3 a.m. Sunday 1 at the Whitehorn Community Centre at 228 Whitehorn Road N.E.
Six black males arrived in a dark coloured four-door car and entered the community centre. A short time later a confrontation ensued with other individuals who were inside the centre.
One of the men who had arrived in the car pulled out a handgun and and fired several rounds striking two other males with gunfire. Both the victims received wounds to the lower torso and were transported to hospital where they are currently listed in stable condition.
The shooter fled with the other males in the same vehicle they had arrived in. The only description available from the group of offenders is that one male appeared to have an injured right arm, had scars on his face and was wearing a black jacket.
District 5 GIU in N.E. Calgary are investigating both incidents.
