April Beauclair faces more charges after second teen dies after alleged drunk driving collision

17-year old Tyson Vanderzwaag of Red Deer has died as a result of injuries he received in a collision on March 31.

Early on March 31, at about 3:30 a.m., Blackfalds RCMP were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident on Highway 11A, west of the QEII.

A vehicle carrying five people broke down on the highway as it was heading east during the early morning hours of March 31.  The five occupants got out to push the car and just as they had started to push, they were struck by an eastbound Ford Focus, allegedly driven by 29- year old April Beauclair of Lacombe.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 19-year old man had died as a result of the collision and another young man, a 17-year old, suffering from serious injuries.  Tyson Vanderzwaag, the 17-year old, was transported to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance.  Sergeant Patricia Neely of the RCMP says both young men were from Red Deer.  One of the other three passengers suffered minor injuries in the collision.

On Good Friday, April 6, Tyson Vanderzwaag succumbed to his injuries at Foothills Hospital.  The young man who died at the scene of the accident has been identified as Colton Keeler.

April Gail Beauclair of Lacombe Alberta is currently facing six criminal code charges; the charges will be amended to reflect the death of Tyson Vanderzwaag.  April Beauclair will be in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 11, 2012.
