Red Deer mobile home fire sends one man to hospital

A man in his sixties was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and his mobile home was destroyed by a fire in Red Deer on Sunday, April 29.

A neighbour heard the smoke alarm sounding and saw smoke coming out of the rear bedroom window of the trailer.  The 9-1-1 call came in to Red Deer Emergency Services at approximately 7 p.m., Sunday.

When crews arrived, they were met by heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and rear of the trailer.  The resident of the mobile home, a man in his sixties, was treated by FireMedics at the scene and taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.  He was treated and released.

The fire was quickly put out and the trailer sustained severe smoke and fire damage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and is believed to have started in the rear of the home.

There were two people living in the mobile home and both are being assisted by the Red Cross.
