Cyril Apetagon released into the Calgary area after serving four-year federal prison sentence
In the interest of public safety, the Calgary Police Service is releasing information about a former federal prisoner who they feel is a high-risk offender.
29-year old Cyril Douglas Apetagon has been released into the Calgary after serving a four-year prison term for break and enter and sexual assault. Apetagon was released on Friday, April 13 and will be monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program on a two-year court order.
Cyril Apetagon has prior convictions in Calgary and Winnipeg for offences including accessing child pornography, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault and vehicle theft.
Apetagon is an Aboriginal man, 5’11″ tall, weighs approximately 170 pounds and has a medium build. He has brown eyes and black hair.
The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Apetagon.
Calgarians are advised that they are not to embark on any vigilante action against Apetagon. Police are releasing this information to allow the public to take precautionary measures.
