Victim uncooperative after assault and kidnapping in Banff

Just before 5 p.m., Banff RCMP received a call concerning an assault and kidnapping on Beaver Street in Banff.

Police believe the victim was walking to work when two unknown men jumped out of a van.  The men assaulted the victim and forcibly put into the van where the assault continued.  The victim was later dropped off at another area in Banff.  The van then fled the scene.

A man was brought to the RCMP detachment where he was questioned about the incident and released without charges.

At this time, police believe the incident was not random and that the victim, who has not been cooperative with police, was targeted.

Banff RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident and investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed the assault and kidnapping to contact the Banff RCMP at 403 762 2228.
