Step into the beauty of the night and be serenaded by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in “Nocturne,” an evening of enchanting favourites and nocturnal classics from March 16 to 17 at the Epcor Centre’s Jack Singer Concert Hall.
The CPO’s resident conductor Melanie Leonard demonstrates this evocative evening, rich with emotion. Featured guest artist is Juno-nominated Canadian pianist David Jalbert, 2007 laureate of the prestigious Virginia Parker Prize of the Canada Council for the Arts and recipient of two Opus Awards.
Jalbert performs an unforgettable interpretation of Mozart’s dramatic Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor.
Each evening provides exciting pre-concert entertainment in the lobby of the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Students from the University of Calgary will perform, including flutist
Ashley Ko, Rose Bowl winner of the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival and flutist Ana Angelovska, both finalists of the RBC Concerto Competition.
Saturday evening features performances by gifted music students from Mount Royal University.
Patrons are also invited to enjoy a pre-concert chat on Friday with CPO President and chief executive officer Ann Lewis Luppino and David Blom with sponsor Grant Thornton, discussing the importance of connecting art and business.
