Man dies at northeast pub early Saturday morning

A man in his early to mid-20’s is dead after a stabbing in the northeast.  Police are hoping the public can assist in locating the person responsible for the murder.

Calgary Police were called to the Sunset Vine Pub and Eatery at 2220 68 St N.E. just before 2 a.m., on Saturday morning.  When they arrived, they found a young man, in his early to mid-20’s in medical distress and suffering from stab wounds.  EMS also responded to the bar, but the man was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses remember the victim standing inside the bar when he got into an altercation with another man, believed to be in his 20’s.  The victim was stabbed and the offender quickly left the bar.

Police have spoken to about 25 witnesses after they were taken to police headquarters for questioning in relation to the stabbing.  All of the witnesses were cooperative with police, but an accurate description of the suspect has not yet been established.

Calgary Police do not believe this to be a random attack, however, no motive has been established.

The identity of the victim has not yet been established.  An autopsy will be conducted early next week and the cause of death will be released at that time.
