Victim hospitalized with 3rd degree burns

Victim was asleep when suspect dumped boiling water on her

Brooks RCMP report a disturbing incident that occurred in Brooks on Monday night at around 10:30 p.m.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 11 Greenbrook Drive in Brooks late on Monday night.  When they arrived at the home, the found a 15-year old girl suffering from burns to her legs.  A 21-year old woman had allegedly dumped boiling water onto the victim while she was sleeping.

Corporal Chris Wilson of the Brooks RCMP says “both females had been involved in a verbal dispute earlier in the evening”.

The victim was taken to hospital in Calgary where she is undergoing treatment for 3rd degree burns to her legs.

The victim was transported to hospital in Calgary where she remains, undergoing treatment for 3rd degree burns to her legs.  The 21-year old woman has been arrested and charges of aggravated assault are pending.  She is scheduled to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on March 28, 2012.
