Officers investigate murder
Sooke RCMP have arrested a 21-year old man in connection with the murder of a 53-year old woman in Sooke on January 8.
Corporal Annie Linteau of the RCMP says police were called to the home on Otter Point Road in Sooke at around 3:30 p.m., after they received a call for assistance.
When officers arrived at the home, they found the deceased woman and the 21-year old man was arrested at the scene for murder. The suspect is in police custody pending a court appearance. The suspect is known to police and the victim and suspect were known to each other.
Members of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are working on the investigation with members of the Sooke RCMP detachment. Officers from the Forensic Identification Section are at the scene of the murder where they are conducting a forensic examination.
The identity of the deceased will not be released. The suspect will appear in West Shore Provincial Court at a yet to be determined date and time.
