Ricky Severin charged
30-year old Ricky Severin of Red Deer is facing multiple charges after a routing traffic stop lead police to search his vehicle where they allegedly found a loaded handgun.
Corporal Kathe DeHeer of the Red Deer RCMP says Severin was pulled over by Red Deer City RCMP at about 4 p.m. The officer was on a routine patrol when he observed Severin allegedly commit a minor driving infraction. The car and driver were pulled over at which time the driver of the vehicle allegedly obstructed the officer, giving him a false name. Severin was then arrested and in a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly found a loaded semi-automatic handgun under the driver’s seat. The serial number on the handgun had been removed.
Ricky Severin is now facing nine charges including: one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, one count of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possessing a firearm without a licence. Severin also faces one count of knowingly operating a vehicle with a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm with serial removed, one count of obstruction, on count of driving while disqualified and one count of transporting a firearm without reasonable precaution for safety.
Severin has been released from custody on $2,500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on January 4, 2012.
