Police have laid two more sex related charges against 70-year old Warren Fertig after another alleged victim has come forward.  Fertig was facing three sex-related offences dating back to the mid 70’s, while he was a teacher at Riverglen School in Red Deer.   After the recent allegations, he is now facing five charges.

Police initiated an investigation into Warren Fertig after they received a complaint from the former student in May of 2010.  Kathe Deheer of the Red Deer RCMP says “It is alleged that the accused, who was a teacher at Riverglen School at the time, had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student between 1975 and 1977.  The female student was 12 years old when the relationship started and 15 when it ended”.

In September of 2011 Warren Fertig was charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 14 and one count of sexual intercourse with a female between the age of 14 and 16.

After the media coverage of the charges, a second former student came forth and lodged a complaint against Fertig with the RCMP.  The second victim says she was a 15-year old student at Riverglen School in 1971 when the alleged incidents occurred.

On November 3, 2011, police laid two charges of indecent assault on a female against Warren Fertig.

Fertig was released on $50,000 cash bail to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court.  Warren Fertig’s next appearance for all charges will be on December 13, 2011.
