28-year old James Dennis Winterburn was arrested and has been charged after two assaults in Fort McMurray on October 27 and October 29.
Winterburn is the suspect in a stabbing that occurred around 11 p.m., at a home in downtown Fort McMurray. The victim was a 40-year old man who sustained non life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Winterburn was also the suspect in an assault outside of the Podollan Pub in Fort McMurray shortly after 1:30 a.m., on October 29. The victim in the assault, a 33-year old man suffered several blows to the head and was knocked unconscious. He was taken to hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Constable Christina Wilkins of the Wood Buffalo RCMP says James Winterburn was arrested at a downtown hotel in Fort McMurray over the weekend. He has been remanded into custody and is facing numerous charges including assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and mischief. Police are continuing their investigation.
