Peace River RCMP are investigating a disturbing home invasion in the town of Grimshaw Alberta, which is about 20 Kms south west of Peace River.
A 70-year old woman was assaulted with a hammer by two female suspects who forced their way into her home at around 10 a.m., on October 10. The suspects took the home owners purse and fled the scene.
Cst. K.L. Robertson of the Peace River RCMP Detachment says the elderly woman was taken to Grimshaw Health Centre where she was treated for her injuries.
Based on a description of the suspects and the vehicle police believe was used in the robbery, one of the suspects was arrested. The woman has only been identified as a resident of Grimshaw.
The matter is still under investigation and police are hoping the public will be able to help them identify the second suspect in this brutal robbery. Anyone with information relating to this crime or anyone who noted suspicious activity in the area during the aforementioned times, contact the local RCMP detachment at 780-624-6677 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
