A 22-year old man from St.Paul, Alberta was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a collision with a car on Saturday evening near St. Paul.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Highway 29 at around 8:45 p.m., 1 Km east of the town of St. Paul, which is about 200 Kms northeast of Edmonton.
Witnesses say that the motorcycle driver was passing vehicles while traveling at a high rate of speed. Near the town of St. Paul, the man attempted to pass a Dodge Magnum, but he struck the rear of the vehicle which caused the motorcyclist to lose control of his bike.
The motorcyclist was taken to the St. Therese Health Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver of the car, a 28-year old man from Leduc along with his passenger, a 27-year old man from Grande Prairie were uninjured in the crash.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
