A man is dead after an accident involving a dump truck and a flatbed truck east of Red Deer area on Tuesday morning.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 595 and Range Road 260 in the County of Red Deer at around 7:50 a.m. Police believe an eastbound gravel truck was stopped on the highway and preparing to make a left hand turn on to Range Road 260 when it was struck in the rear by an eastbound flat bed truck carrying lumber.
Staff Sergeant G.D. Glasgow of the Blackfalds RCMP says the 59-year old driver of the flatbed truck was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The man was from Bowden. The driver of the gravel truck, a 43-year old woman from Blackfalds was taken to hospital by EMS for non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP are reporting that road conditions at the time of the crash were good. Blackfalds RCMP are investigating the accident but no charges are being considered at this time. The name of the deceased man is not being released at this time.
