Man dies while free climbing near Canmore
Canmore RCMP report that a 27-year old man has been found dead as a result of a climbing accident on Mount Yamnuska, just east of Highway 1X.
RCMP received the call at 10 a.m. Thursday. Their investigation has revealed that the man went free climbing on his own on the morning of September 7 and at some point fell and undetermined distance. The man died from the fall.
The man was well known in the Canmore climbing community and was originally from Japan. The name of the man killed in the fall is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
