83-year old man charged in fatal pedestrian accident
The Calgary Police Traffic Section has laid charges against an 83-year old man after a fatal pedestrian/automobile collision on Sunday, August 21.
Mansel Wong, 83, of Calgary has been charged with one count each of careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian.
The accident occurred at just before 10 a.m., at 20 Ave and 18 St N.W. Wong struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. The 62-year old pedestrian was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead later that afternoon. Wong was uninjured in the crash.
Wong is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday, October 31.
