Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a crash where a 27-year old woman from Calgary was thrown from a Jeep Cherokee that rolled on Saturday evening on the Trans Alta Road in the Waiparous Recreational area. The woman was a passenger in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was not thrown from the Jeep but she did sustain serious injuries in the crash.
On their way to hospital in Calgary, both women were initially taken from the scene via ground ambulance and then transferred to STARS air ambulance. The driver was listed in critical condition while the passenger was in serious but non-life threatening condition.
Cochrane and Southern Alberta CCIT RCMP are investigating the crash. Names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
