The Calgary Police Service HAWCS helicopter and the Chestermere RCMP worked together on Monday night to capture a shooting suspect who fled from Calgary to a home in Chestermere.
At just after 10:20 p.m., Calgary Police called in a request to the Chestermere RCMP for assistance in capturing a suspect in a shooting. The shooting happened in Calgary and the suspect was being followed by the HAWCS helicopter into the Chestermere area.
The suspect made a stop at a home in Chestermere. It was at this residence where officers from the Calgary Police Service, RCMP Chestermere and the RCMP Strathmore detachment staged outside the home. The forces were able to take the suspect into custody without incident.
The shooting suspect was turned over to the Calgary Police Service officers to continue their investigation.
Chestermere RCMP report that a man in his 30's is missing and presumed drowned after the inner tube he was riding on overturned at Lake Chestermere on Saturday.
