The Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit has charged Stephen Thomas Fortune, 54, of Olds with seven offences in connection with three recent bank robberies in Calgary.
The most recent robbery took place on Monday July 25 at around noon in the southwest quadrant of the city. Police allege Fortune walked into the First Calgary Financial in the 2500 block of Southland Dr S.W., where he approached a teller, showed her a firearm and handed her a robbery note. He was then given an undisclosed amount of cash and immediately left the bank.
Similar robberies occurred on Wednesday June 1 at the Scotiabank at 2001 33 Ave S.W. and at the TD Canada Trust at 4110 Brentwood Road N.W. on July 13.
Stephen Fortune is now facing seven offences, including robbery, possession of a weapon and using a disguise to commit an indictable offence.
